109_0979 We take it easy...
109_0981 ...find an arch at Limekiln...
109_0989 ...and more big rocks along the way.
109_1000 Another tame day on the wild Big Sur coast.
110_1002 Later that day, we drive by McWay falls at Julia Pfeiffer Burns SP. Looks like the perfect beach to land a kayak, take a shower, and enjoy lunch. But how do we get there?
110_1022 The secret is: Launch at Partington Cove, just about 2 miles to the north.
110_1004 However, the trail to the beach is long...
110_1005 ...and winded...
110_1007 ...and we really don't like the dumping surf on the rocky beach we find at the end of the trail.
110_1012 Is there light at the other end of the tunnel?
110_1010 At least there is an alternative put-in!
110_1013 Fred seems concerned, but not for long.
110_1016 We all practice our preferred ways of launching.
110_1018 For some, this means lowering their boat from a cliff.
110_1019 It might be good they can't see from above the white water waiting below.
110_1020 But all goes well, and now it's just jumping into the water, swimming out to the boat, and climbing in.
110_1025 About 4 hours after the planned launch time, we are finally paddling south in clear blue water.
110_1026 Exploring the rocks just north of McWay Cove.
110_1024 Approaching the beach.
110_1028 Almost there.
110_1029 Is this paradise?
110_1030 After landing it's shower time.
110_1034 The water is overwhelming.
110_1032 I don't know what they are playing.
110_1037 Packing up after lunch.
110_1039 After an easy paddle back we enjoy the excitement of landing on the rocks.
110_1041 This is where the pictures stop, but the sweatiest part of the trip is just about to begin - remember that long and winding trail?
